FIRST FRIDAY’S | LIKE A LOON

FRIDAY, JULY 1, 2011 | 2212 SEPVIVA STREET | Loading Dock 1

Like migrating birds once a month groups of artist, photographers, gallerists, and others who are just hungry converge on the bohemian/ Art sections of Philadelphia for “FIRST FRIDAYS”.  If you have not experienced it you should; you get to meet and see people you may not normally interact with in your daily life.

I have not been to a “FIRST FRIDAY” in nearly two years I just attended this one in Fishtown (in the heart of the Arts Corridor) because an old friend, Albert Yee, was having his first showing at GRAVY Studio & Gallery on Sepviva street not even realizing it was the first Friday of the month.

“The expose of huge corporate farms has been done many times over….This is the other side: It’s happy animals and happy farmers working the land.  that’s a possibility that’s out there.”  YEE

I’d like to say … “Amazing!” of all of the eclectic sources that were there, people, things, animals, objects and occupations which did not seem to mix but then it did – this collaborative has a wide range of styles.

– Gravy Studio & Gallery- Albert Yee’s “Hands That Feed Us” photographs

– Liberty Vintage – Autos & Cycles

– byo- Studio : Sculptor – Printmaking shop

– People with great well trained friendly dogs

This is one place that’s on my future SOCIAL SCHEDULE to go back to with a bunch of friends.  It’s a place I hope to do some special projects in the near future… we’ll see.  The hugh common yards have super potential for some serious BQ parties.

pS     – ALL THESE PICTURES WERE TAKEN WITH A CELL PHONE SO THAT’S WHY THEY ARE GRAINY, BLURRY AND WHAT NOT.
