Last night The Arts Ballroom (located at 1324 Locust Street, former site of the Hotel Sylvania) became a throwback to the ROARING 1920s with fashion style and attitude. Dalet Gallery & Noel Zayas Events paid homage to the 1920s with a lavish Prohibition-era social event at the Arts Ballroom with food, fashion and music it was a great celebration fete.
Jessie Holeva (local fashion expert and media personality) hosted the event and entertainment for the evening included performances by celebrated cabaret singers Karen Gross and Anne Ellithorpe accompanied by New York City Cabaret Icon Rick Jensen playing on a Cunningham piano; and a 1920s inspired fashion show by designer Priscilla Costa and Les Richards.
Entertainment also included performances by the Uptown All Stars Jazz Band, songstress Maci Miller, WB and CBS 3 on-air personality Kharisma McIlwaine as well as Josephine Baker Tribute dance performance by the University of the Arts. Rounding out the evening will be world music by DJ Rahsaan (AfroTaino Productions)
Portion of the proceeds benefits The Avenue of the Arts, Inc., (AAI), supporting the growth and development of the Avenue of the Arts.
