RITTENHOUSE SQUARE TREE LIGHTING

NOVEMBER 30, 2011  |  WEDNESDAY

LAST NIGHT.  A packed Rittenhouse Square waited in anticipation for the annual tree lighting for the holidays.  Hosted by Rittenhouse Row and the Friends of Rittenhouse Square. Hundreds of complimentary elf hats, hot chocolate and cookies were given out by TD Bank ( I missed out on that one), turning the Square into Santa’s backyard for a couple hours.

Festivities included children’s ornament-making, games and holiday entertainment from the Chestnut Hill Academy, Springside School and the Mummers. This occasion is dedicated to those families and children unable to partake by bringing a new, unwrapped toy for the Salvation Army’s Joy of Sharing Toy Drive presented by CDS 3 and the CW Philadelphia.
