Last night at the Afro-American Museum JB (Joan Myers Brown) talked about her newly released book, “Joan Myers Brown & the Audacious Hope of the Black Ballerina”, in front of a well received full house.
Joan Myers Brown is the founder of The Philadelphia Dance Company (PHILADANCO) and The Philadelphia School Of Dance Arts; Joan has a lot of History.
Brenda Dixon Gottschild, author of The Black Dancing Body, wrote this definitive book on the Founder of the Philadelphia Dance Company (PHILADANCO) and it is a very enjoyable read although as a photographer I wish there were more archival photography.
