INDEPENDENCE MALL EAST. THURSDAY, at the National Museum of American Jewish History at 5th and Market Streets was an official groundbreaking and Luncheon for Tom Scannapieco’s next big project, 500 WALNUT, which has taken off in earnest today.
Mayor Michael Nutter was in attendance to welcome the commencement of construction for the building being touted as Philly’s “most innovative condo tower to date.”
The 26 story tower (opening in 2017) will be overlooking “History” with a commanding view of the Cradle of Liberty. 500 Walnut will house 38 units on 26 floors, it will have a robotic car retrieval and parking system, with luxurious amenities and the space of each home will be 2,700 square-feet to 9,100 square-feet.
So far to date $75 million in pre-construction reservations has been collected, about half of the building capacity occupancy; price tag is $3 million to $17 million per unit.
Oh, by the way, the $17 million penthouse which has two floors and 9,000 square feet is still available; roughly $1,000 a square foot.
